A primary UMS focus is to assist senior executives in answering the critical questions that align IT with the company's business strategy. UMS assists customers in optimizing the following areas, which typically result in an annual cost savings of 10 to 30%:
- Software Compliance & Management: determine the best licensing option, by vendor, through a comprehensive reporting of all installed software/associated versions, software deployment gaps and software compliance information.
- Maintenance Management: determine the best maintenance renewal programs for software and hardware products. Know exactly how many systems are working in your environment to ensure the organization is not paying for "out of service" or disposed software and hardware.
- Baseline Reconciliation: validate the accuracy of the current hardware and software data and ensure a highly accurate baseline is kept on an on-going basis.
- Mergers & Acquisitions: ensure the smooth transition and integration of the merged IT environments and select the best contracting/licensing options for the newly combined environment.
- Install, Move, Add & Change (IMAC): efficiently track inventory/audit/IMAC activities at the highest accuracy levels.
- Lease Management: know the exact configuration and location of all leased assets to help eliminate costly penalties incurred during lease termination.
- Internal/External Audits: by user, department, and/or location, get precise hardware configuration data, i.e. PC serial number, PC name, Processor (speed and type), RAM, hard disk size/free space, and detailed information about installed software.
- Receiving Activities: exceptional receiving function to effectively manage all receiving activities from any warehouse, dock or receiving location; loads electronic packing data and links/reconciles to assets scanned at each receiving location.
- Disposal Activities: efficiently manage disposal activities and ensure all contracts and systems are updated to reflect the removal of equipment and software from the environment.
